How belts are measured | DEPECHE.

We measure our belts according to traditional craftsmanship standards:

The belt size indicates the length from the end of the buckle (where the leather begins) to the middle hole (3rd hole).

This means:

An 85 cm belt measures 85 cm from the end of the buckle to the middle hole
A 95 cm belt measures 95 cm from the end of the buckle to the middle hole
A 105 cm belt measures 105 cm from the end of the buckle to the middle hole

The middle hole is designed to be your natural fit, allowing two adjustment holes on each side.

How to Find Your Size

Method 1: Measure a belt you already own

  1. Take a belt that fits you well
  2. Measure from the end of the buckle (not the buckle itself) to the hole you use most often
  3. The measurement in cm equals your belt size

For example, if you measure 92 cm, a 95 cm belt would be the right choice.

Method 2: Measure your waist or hips

Measure where you intend to wear the belt:

  • At the waist (over a dress or blazer)

  • Through your trousers’ belt loops

  • Low on the hips

Your measurement in centimeters corresponds directly to your belt size.

Which Size Should You Choose?

As a general rule:

If you typically wear XS/S (EU 34–36) → 85 cm
If you typically wear M/L (EU 38–40) → 95 cm
If you typically wear XL (EU 42+) → 105 cm (selected styles only)

Between two sizes?
Wearing the belt at the waist → choose the smaller size.
Wearing the belt on the hips → choose the larger size.

The Belt as a Styling Element

At DEPECHE., we design belts in premium leather with raw detailing – from minimalist classics to styles with studs, texture, and strong character.

A belt can:

  • Define the waist over a blazer

  • Add edge to a dress

  • Elevate jeans and leather trousers

  • Pull an entire look together

The right size doesn’t just ensure comfort – it ensures the right expression.

One Last Tip

Leather is a natural material. Over time, it will soften slightly and adapt to your body. The belt should feel snug – but never tight.

In doubt? Use the middle hole as your starting point. That’s exactly why we measure the way we do.
